Surreal scene at the Wonder Bar this afternoon. Bruce took his Mom there to celebrate her 93rd birthday and to see and play with the Eddie Testa Band. The band played two songs and Bruce did dance with his Mom for a bit but then the power went out. It was a cold, rainy and windy day at the Jersey Shore. Bruce was definitely going to play, Kevin Buell was there with guitars. But the power never came back on. Bruce was there for more than 90 minutes. His son Sam was there also as were both of Patti's brothers.

Bruce Springsteen helps reopen Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park UPDATE
Chris Jordan  Asbury Park Press
Published 8:41 p.m. UTC Jun 19, 2018

Asbury Lanes has been Bossified.
Bruce Springsteen joined the Tangiers Blues Band for four raucous blues and rock classics at the Lanes' reopening party Monday, June 18, in Asbury Park.

Starting with "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu," Springsteen and the band had the crowd at the new Lanes twisting and shouting.

Especially when they played a set-closing "Twist and Shout."
The guys also played "I Just Want to Make Love to You" and "Down the Road Apiece."

"This goes out to all the folks from the old Asbury Lanes," said Springsteen before playing "Down the Road Apiece."
Springsteen traded off on vocals with the Tangiers’ King B. King and a scorching guitar battle ensued with the band’s Chris Scianni on “I Just Want to Make Love to You.” He called out solos for Danny Clinch, also known for shooting several Springsteen album covers, and Peter Levin on keys.

“Keep on driving!” exclaimed Springsteen during an audience call-and-response for “Down the Road Apiece.”
No wonder they call him the Boss.
Springsteen, plugged in, seemed like a fish in water in this oceanside bar on the corner of Kingsley Street and Fourth Avenue. His hit music play “Springsteen on Broadway” is acoustic and subtle. Here, he was electric and loud. These are songs he jammed on in ‘60s, it gave him joy, and the joy he felt on stage was transferred to the audience, which included Hugh Jackman, Adrian Grenier and Gov. Phil Murphy.

Portugal. The Man, technically Monday’s headliners, came on after Springsteen and the Tangiers Blues Band. They experienced some technical problems, as a fire alarm sounded and the house lights came on, twice, during “Purple, Yellow, Red and Blue.”
Bassist Zach Carothers held up a bottle of Jack Daniels as the band played through commotion. It added to the excitement of the evening.
Clinch came back out for an extended jam on Portugal. The Man’s  “Holy Roller (Hallelujah).”
“This has been a wild night,” Carothers said. “Thank you for sharing it with us.”

The night also included a DJ set by Questlove in the Sound Booth area of the adjacent Asbury Hotel and iStar’s Chairman and CEO Jay Sugarman introducing Springsteen at the beginning of the night.
iStar owns multiple properties in the city, including Asbury Lanes and the Asbury Hotel.
“A lot of people were dismissing Asbury Par as a town of faded glory and failed projects,” said Sugarman of iStar’s decision to stay in the city 10 years ago. “But sometimes you see the future so clearly that you can take a step back and say, not this time, not on our watch.”
“That is that future is now, Asbury Park now and we’re never going back!”
He then introduced Springsteen to a chorus of "Broooces!"

“Good evening, welcome to Asbury Park,” Springsteen said. “Welcome to the Asbury Lanes. Back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, I’m speaking as an old home boy tonight, we didn’t know if we’d eve see Asbury come back in our lifetimes, so it’s been joy watching what’s been happening in town in the past 10, 15, 20 years. And a shout out to all the people who were here when nobody else was. All the people on Cookman (Avenue), the gay LGBTQ community ... Jay and his gang.
“I walk down the boardwalk and I feel like the ghost of Christmas past. But that’s OK, because it’s fun to watch Asbury  and its future unfold in front of me.”
The night was a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. iStar donated $125,000 to the group.

Earlier in the day, Jill Felsenstein, 57, of Asbury Park, was first in line to see the Boss. She got there at 9 a.m.
“I want to be first,” said Felsenstein Monday afternoon. “If I see him he’s going to sign my arm and I’m going to get a tattoo.”

The Boss will be a “special guest” at the Asbury Lanes re-opening party with Portugal. The Man and the Tangiers Blues Band on Monday, June 18.
James J.Connolly

Felsenstein, who was the lottery for Asbury Park residents to see the show,  was attending the show with Tracey Knapp, 47, of Asbury Park, as her guest.
“I’m very excited,” Felsenstein said. “I’ve been following Bruce since 1973 and I’m extremely excited  that he’s coming here  to open this place up that hasn’t been opened for a very long time.”

Asbury Lanes was built in the early 1960s and it began hosting national touring and local acts, mostly of the punk variety, in 2003. The club closed in 2015 after it was purchased by iStar, a city waterfront developer, and it’s since been renovated. The Lanes reopened its doors for business on May 18.
Jodi Reilly of Keansburg was one of 18 people waiting for a potential ticket drop of unused tickets.
“I just came out for a sneak peak of him going in, I wasn’t hoping to get in because it seems like such a long shot,” Reilly said. “Just hanging out with everyone here I managed to get caught up in the frenzy so I have a number to get in.”
Reilly had No. 15 written on her hand.
“You never know,” Reilly said. “I am lucky. I saw him at Harry’s Roadhouse (formerly in Asbury Park).”
Springsteen is currently starring in “Springsteen on Broadway” at the Walter Kerr Theatre. No performances were scheduled for Monday night.

George THEISS, membre des CASTILES et co auteur de leur chanson avec Boboss vient de s'éteindre à l’age de 68 ans.

Bruce en parle dans BORN TO RUN:
“George was the best vocalist we had,” said Springsteen in ‘“Born to Run.” ‘“He had a real voice and charisma and did the job well. I was considered toxic in front of a microphone, my voice the butt of many of Tex’s jokes, and years later, after selling millions of records, I would visit Tex and he would take grand pleasure in sneering at me, ‘You still can’t sing. George is the singer.’ ”
